vSphere 6.0 on HP DL360 G9 servers?? -- experiences?? issues??

I'm hoping to get new servers this year and I want to get HP G9 servers since they will be supported longer then G8 servers.

Has anyone installed vSphere 6.0 on HP G9 servers yet??

Experiences?? Issues??
Thank you, Tom

Since the server is supported and tested by the vmware . so you will not face any issue related to hardware specific.

I know the G9s are supported by both VMware and HP -- I'm asking if anyone had issues despite this.

Thank you, Tom

I would like to share my experience with HP DL360 G9 and vSphere 6. They have flash cards as local storage. I've rebuilt them with ESXi 6.0 from the scratch and they perform excellent. Of course I've used the custom HP ESXi image. So far so good. However despite of the fact that they support 512Gb per socket, you can use only 480 (approximately) due to CPU radiator you can't install the last RAM module 😞 Hope this will be helpful for you.

I am ordering them with two (2) 500 GB disks…hopefully!!

I know they can have two flash cards…I have not found anything pros or cons about using flash cards vs. hard drives for running ESXi except that in another vSphere cluster I did, I had to use hard drives because one can not use the flash cards as local storage (e.g. that cluster required running an appliance on local storage).

Thank you, Tom

Flash cards are cheap and in Gen 9 HP provides mirroring for them. Otherwise HDDs are ok, especially for your case . I don't think you will have any issues with Gen9. 🙂
