Automating VM replication

Hi all,

I am facing a problem with vSphere Replication 5.8.

In particular, I need to automate the virtual machine replication process between a primary site and a recovery site.

Unfortunately, it seems that no APIs are available with this version. I've tried also with Host Base Replication CLI but no luck so far.

Does anybody know any other workaround to replicate VMs invoking an API/cmdlet?

Thanks,
Giulio

Hi,

The HBR CLI is internal and not officially supported and using it would cause mismatches at VRMS DB. Please do not use that internal CLI.

For all existing VR versions there is no automation or public API. Public API is on the roadmap for a future release.

A vCO plugin for VR might be introduced soon, but please wait for an official announcement.

Hi Hristo,

thank you very much for the update. Is the plug-in backward compatible with vCenter Orchestrator 5.5? Does it work only with vRealize and vCenter 6.0?

Thanks again,

Giulio

Hi, Giulio.

Good to hear from you.

Version 6.0.0 of the vSphere Replication vRealize Orchestrator Plug-in  requires -

  • vRealize Orchestrator 6.0.1, and
  • vSphere Replication 6.0.0.

The plug-in's installation pre-requisites will be added to release notes.

Let us know if you need anything else,

Hristo
