Unable to console to VM machines

Hi all,

after launching the vsphere client on my Windows 8.1 laptop and connecting to vCenter 5.5, i was unable to console into any VM machine with the error shown on the console box "Unable to connect to the MKS: Could not connect to pipe \\.\pipe\vmware-authdpipe within retry period"

I tested with another Windows 8.1 laptop and also faced the same issue.

I have already try to follow the KB below but found nothing.

VMware KB: Opening a virtual machine console from vSphere Client fails with the error: Unable to con...

ESX Host: 5.5 U2

vCenter: 5.5

On the network side, my laptop is on the same subnet as the vCenter and all firewall have been disabled

Not too sure if the attached is the correct logs I'm looking at.

Hi,

Make sure to open 902 & 903 ports between your client(window8) and ESXi hosts.

Im my case was related to DNS resolution

On the vSphere client server i added into hosts files (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) the IP + hostname of vCenter and all ESXi hosts. That did the trick and console is opening fine
