unable to delete datastore - says resource is in use

I emptied out a datastore and there are no vms on it. I checked no isos or vms are pointing to this datastore. Also checked maps that there are no relationships between vm and dataastore

but I cannot delete this datastore. keeps saying resource is in use

any idea?

Did you also check HA to ensure the datastore isn't in use for HA heartbeating?

If the datastore is used for /scratch then you also cant delete it.

I agree with Andre, mostly likely datastore is used for hearbeat.

Hi,

I've also seen this before if it was a volume that was set as a hosts area for vswap files. Even though disabled, I couldn't delete the volume until I'd de-selected the volume for swap use and then rebooted the host.

I've also had this on an NFS datastore before on a VNXe. It wasn't in use (heartbeating), was empty but would not remove from the host. After rebooting the host, I was able to remove it.

Good luck!

Ryan
