Installing Esxi 5.0 on GA-Z77-D3H Motherboard help!

I bought a Gigabyte motherboard (model GA-Z77-D3H) and when I go to install ESXi 5.0 It gets to the select the disk to upgrade or install page, but it says there is no local or remote disk, I have a Western Digital 500gb black drive and it sees it in the bios. Will this motherboard work with ESXI 5.0. This is my first post on the forums so thank you in advance.

I am just being curious - did you get it all to work? Which LAN adapter did you use in the end?

But in general ESXi 5.0 is working on the gigabyte board? Or any other hickups apart from LAN (which I expected anyway..)

Yes out side of the NICs I dont see any other problems so far. Before upgrading to 5.0 U1 It did not see the storage controller but after I installed using U1 everything went smooth.

Hey there,

I have the same board and ran into the same issues as you did, esxi 5u also sorted out my initial issue...

but now i have another one....

everything worked well, i created vms in my esx just fine.

i have 1 nic card connected 1 tb hard drive and i7 3,4ghz processor 8 gb ram.

then i added another 8gb and paired it properly on the board... ios picks up 16 gb and esx sees 16gb to.

but it seems like whenever i startup vm's that go over 8gb... after 20 mins or so my esx crashes.

I loose connection to the server... and when i check the monitor of the server it just has these horizontal lines running through it...

i have to reset the server to get everything working again...

just wondering if you experienced anything like this?

esxi up to ver 6.0 will run on this board (GA-Z77-DS3M), with the atl1 driver added, fails in uefi mode to detect the ethernet. (probe failed)
