VMWare Workstation 11: Missing mouse cursor when loading a game

So today I finally decided to update from VMWare Workstation 7. I bought VMWare 11, and ran the software which uninstalled VMWare 7. After the whole process, the VM updated the VMware Tools after Windows loaded. The mouse cursor is working fine, however when loading a game, the mouse cursor completely disappears now. You can see things being highlighted when I mouse the mouse around, just the cursor is invisible until I leave the game client.

Never had this issue w/ Workstation 7 and happening immediately after upgrading to Workstation 11. Disappointed but hoping there is a easy solution.

Ok so I went into Preferences > Input and Optimize Mouse for Games was set to Enable. I changed that setting to Disabled and the mouse cursor started to show up, however the screen was totally spazzing out and spinning my character uncontrollable when mouselook mode was off. I tried putting it on Automatic and the mouse cursor would work, however when I would left go of the mouselook mode to move the character around, it would spaz out for the first second I try to do anything with the mouse, then go back to normal condition. Automatic seems to be the best option to keep it on but definitely annoying still versus Workstation version 7 giving me no problems.

Still looking for solutions how to get the mouse cursor working w/o the screen spazzing out since Enabled mode hides the cursor, Disabling the Optimizing Mouse spazzing the character out.

   Could you provide some information about your environment, I want to reproduce it on my environment  and try to find what the problem is?

1. Which host are you using?

2. what's your graphics cards type?

3. your guest information. what's the guest, is it a x86 or x64 bit one.

4. what game are you playing?

I had another person tell me WS 11 doesn't give a mouse cursor in game when mouse optimization for gaming enabled and you have to keep it enabled. He reverted his from.11.0.0 to 10.0.4 w/o changing anything at all in settings and the mouse cursor came back and started working fine.

Sounds like a bug with VMware 11 mouse optimization enabled missing mouse cursor in game.

thanks, I'll try to reproduce on my env on Monday, I can't access the lab from home. I also want to know your host and guest.For example host is  win7? Guest is win8.1 update1?

oops, When I try to download dark age of Camelot, I couldn't register my trial account. I tried all my email addresses, they all don't meet the criteria for registration.

But I really think this is a bug. I will do further investigation and try to open a bug to track the issue.

Sorry it bring bad experience to you.

Once the problem is fixed, I will update in the community.

If anyone who have better solution, please post here too.

I spoke to another person who mentioned same thing on his upgrade to vm 8 to 11 removed mouse cursor when having mouse optimization enabled as was in vm8. Enabled only way to play wo mouse bugging out. Just missing cursor. Yes please post here if you ever hear of it being fixed. Thanks.

Which operating system you have ?

I think vmware 11 improved to work perfectly on

windows 8.1 and windows 10

So if you still use windows 7, keep your vmware 10

i have same problem here with mouse cursor  for games on vm11

so i uninstalled 11 and reinstalled 10, every thing fine now.

or you can waiting fix update for our issue.
