Hello Community,
I just recertified my expiring VCP5-DCV, so I'm ok for the next 2 yrs.
My will, anyway, was to take VCAP-CIA, and I discovered it's been dismissed. Then, I also noticed that all VCAPs have been dismissed (except for DCA & DCD, but for how long?) to switch to VCIX. And that's fine.. but... at the moment only NV is available.
Lastly, true that VCAP-DCV is still available, but how valuable could be a cert based on a previous version vSphere?
So... I'm looking for an advice - preparing VCAP-DCA hoping that, when it'll be VCIX it will be in someway recognized;
waiting for the VACP (or VCIX, whatever) 6.
Or, lastly, maybe waiting for VMware to clarify better its learning/certs paths and go, in the while, for a, let's say, MS74-409 (Server Virtualization with Windows Server Hyper-V and System Center).
It is not a provocation, really, it's just a matter of time optimization for me...
Thanks a lot
Raff
The VCAP exams for Cloud and Desktop were retired, but those for DCV and NV (VCIX) remain in play.
Have a look here for what the future looks like: https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=62401&ui=www_cert
It won't be long til upgrade/migration paths are announced - if I were you I would wait til they are...
Thanks Scott.
As far as I see, being VCP5.5 I won't be allowed to take VCIX6? Should I necessarily pass through VCP6?
When the VCIX6 for DCV is launched, we will discover the answer to those kinds of questions.
If you pass VCAP5-DCA now, you'll get a certification.
If you then pass VCIX6-DCV design when it launches, you'll get a second cert - VCIX6-DCV.
If you wait for VCIX to launch and pass both of the exams (design and deploy) you will receive one cert - VCIX6-DCV.
