Nested VM Question

Hi All,

I am trying to setup my LAB for some testing purpose.

I have created a VM with 8 Gb RAM and 4 vCPU(On a Cisco UCS Blade) and installed WinXP on it.. In Windows, I have installed Workstation and trying to install ESXi on VM in workstation.

So its like Physical host >> Main VM >> Workstation >> VM(esx i).

I am getting some CPU VT error.. I want to know if this type of setup is even possible before going for troubleshooting.

Appreciate any help on this.

Regards,

VD

Please take a look at Running Nested VMs which explains different lab setups, and what needs to be configured for the guest operating system.

Yes, that far should work.  However, you won't be able to nest any deeper.  That is, you won't be able to run any VMs under the ESXi VM.

The "CPU VT error" is probably just a warning, if it's the message I think it is.
