VCP5-DCV - VCP510 (5.0/5.1), VCP550D (5.5)

Hi,

If I do VCP510 exam and then the VCP550D exam, I'll be VCP5-DCV certified for the following vSphere versions 5.0, 5.1 and 5.5? Would be the same as having passed the VCP550 exam?

Cheers

I assume you mean "qualify" as in you were trained on vSphere 5.0 or 5.1.

The minor version of your training does not influence which exam you can take - you can take VCP550 (minus the D) now which is based on vSphere 5.5.

Passing VCP550 is by far the simplest option for you to have passed a certification exam on vSphere 5.5.

But, your certification title will say VCP5-DCV regardless of whether you pass VCP510, or VCP550, or VCP510 followed by VCP550D.

VCP5-DCV certifies you for vSphere 5, not a specific minor version.

If you are new to VMware certification, you take either VCP510 or VCP550 (as well as meeting the training requirement).

VCP550D is specifically for those who've already passed VCP510 and face a March 10th recertification deadline.

Hi,

I only qualify to sit for the VCP510 exam however I work with vSphere 5.5 and I guess what I'm tying to say is passing VCP510 gets me the VCP5-DCV certification but doing the additional VCP550D exam will essentially say I'm still VCP5-DCV certified (extended by 2 years) but to employers i can say I'm up to date with the latest vSphere version (I.E. 5.5).

Cheers

Yes I did the VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V5.0] course a few years ago, ... I though I could only be authorised for the VCP510 exam.
