Project to run on client

Hello friends,

Although I became VCP5 last year, I confess that it is the first time that I will play a VMware project with HA and DRS start before had only done by simulation in my labs, including videos on VMware that are on my blog www.ivanildogalvao.com.br were all performed in labs in house.

Well, I designed and presented a project for the client and he approved, is already buying the hardware and software, will be:

02 Dell R720 servers with 08 gigabit network cards, 02 processors and 32GB of RAM, hard drives 300GB SAS;

01 Storage Dell MD 3200i iSCSI, with 2.6TB drives (here will be stored and the VMS File Server data in separate LUNS, of course);

The File Server will be virtual, but their data were in a storage LUN, the File Server then accesses this LUN via iSCSI Initiator.

01 Storage Dell MD 3000i iSCSI which will be used solely for backup files and VMS also on separate LUNs;

02 Switches Dell N2000 unique to the SAN;

01 Virtual Machine Windows Server 2008 R2, with Veeam Backup & Replication, only to back up the VMS;

01 VMware vSphere 5.5 Essentials 01 Kit Plus.

My idea is: Use 04 network interfaces with jumbo linked server frame for the first 04 MD3200i iSCSI storage cards and use the other 04 server B network interfaces connected in other 04 iSCSI network cards of the same storage, there riding the SAN.

The idea comes from a tip from a colleague here in the community, the Richardson Porto.

Remaining 04 network adapters on each server, then use 02 to create a vSwitch LAN for VMS interact with LAN, with NIC Teaming enabled, 01 for Vmotion and 01 for the management of network hosts, the vSwitch LAN and the network management will be in the same physical network segment using the same range of IP address.

Then ask. Is good this way, or want to suggest something better?

The room is small, with a maximum of 8 VMS, flight use the vCenter Virtual Appliance for the management of hosts, vms and other features of vSphere, or find it safer to use the vCenter in a VM with Windows Server 2008?

Still I will detail the action plan in a spreadsheet, while'll follow the implementation, so before either validate this layout here with colleagues.

Thanks !

Has a fix there. As we have 02 SAN Switches, and the 08 storage iSCSI interfaces, then connect 04 interfaces on Switch1 and Switch2 in 04 interfaces. Then on Server A, caught 02 network interfaces and call on Switch1 and Switch2 in 02 interfaces with jumbo frame. Then apply the same configuration to Server B.

So create 02 vSwitchs for SAN on each server in each vSwitch add their 02 network interfaces.

And SANs can have different IP address range, right?

If the SAN network Switch1 fails, all communication of hosts will occur normally through Switch2.

And then, all right this layout?

Thank you all!
