Log Insight and Veeam

How does log insight integrate with Veeam?  Should I attempt to integrate Veeam alerts into log insight and create email alerts from log insight regarding backup job failures, or is using veeam tools or other tools a cleaner design for capturing events and generating alerts related to Veeam?

Thanks!

If the goal is to analyze and report on Veeam logs then I would suggest using Log Insight. There is no native integration between the products today, but if you can forward logs then the rest should be very straight forward.

Hope this helps! === If you find this information useful, please award points for "correct" or "helpful". ===

You should be able to utilize the Log Insight Agent, and have it pull the logs directly from the Veeam windows servers. The Log Insight agent can be told what directories, to pull all logs from, what files, or what files that even rotate.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the input.  Would pushing from Veeam to Log insight be a cleaner design than having Log Insight pull from Veeam?  Is there a way to have Veeam push info to log insight?

IMO, having LI Agent pull would be cleaner, because you can tell it specifically what you want it to ingest, and how. Do you want it to send via syslog, or through the ingestion API? You can do both.

A perfect example for this is all vcenter logs. We are utilizing the LI agent to pull EVERYTHING in the log folder, and it does a great job. I took what I learned form this, and put it to use in the Veeam situation, and it not only pulls the Windows event logs, but Veeam logs as well. Win-win on two points.

If you have it send its logs, it will only send what it feels is important, not what you feel is important to your needs.
