VMware Workstation 11 hangs and hiccups : Windows 7 guest hosted by Linux Mint 17 KDE kernel 3.17.4, Nvidia 346.16 -x64

Two major issues so far.

First, my windows 7 guest sometimes grabs  all resources and hangs the host system (maxed CPUs, no keyboard or mouse responses anywhere. This had been fixed in WS10.04. I had to remote in to run vmrun pause to get my host to respond again. This is with the 3D graphics disabled and in a windowed (console) VM. The windows VM was running word 2010 and dragon naturallyspeaking 11, and occurs in both unity and console views.

Second, a USB mic that worked flawlessly through Linux's Phonon GStreamer no longer works through the virtual sound system. The output plays perfectly through the virtual sound card, but not the input (two different USB devices) that used to work flawlessly in the same situation using WS10.04.  I already switched the VM USB to 2.0, but it didn't help. The work around is to connect the mic to the VM.

Host: AMD 8350 8 core, 32 GB RAM. Guest: 4 CPU cores, 4GB RAM.

Cheers,

Matthew
