Today for the first time in years of using VMWare Workstation, booting the VM I got this message. I had to restart the PC to resolve problem. Now I read the same problem with an Win8.1 update, but I currently run with Windows 7. Three days ago I have installed the monthly updates of Win7, does anyone know which of these last updates should cause the problem?
Hi dear, this issue recently came out to many vmware users after install microsoft windows 8.1 update in the month of October.
Microsoft company they are still working on it to sortout, on the meanwhile you have to uninstall the update since October.
Also have a look Windows 8.1 October rollup KB2995388 and issue with Workstation 10
Method 1: Solution to this question, Just follow the steps to uninstall Microsoft Update KB2995388 ,
Go to 1=> Control Panel, 2=>Programs 3=> Programs and Feature 4=> On the left select View Installed Updates 5=> locate the update KB2995388 , and 6=> uninstall, Finely restart the system and its done.
Now start your vmware with Administrator privileges.
Method 2: As a workaround:
Open the config.ini file located at C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Workstation.
Add this line:
vmmon.disableHostParameters = "TRUE"
Save & reboot your system.
Hope it helps you.Tc
Luckily for me I never installed that update. At the moment I have uninstalled only one of the last updates for Win7 (November), that I think could be relevant to the problem. Now I'll look if it were to happen again, or it was solved. Otherwise I'll do a clean sweep of all crap updates of October and November. These windows update every time are a real disaster.
Which VMware Workstation version do you currently use? According to the VMware Workstation 10.0.4 Release Notes the issue is fixed for Windows 8.1/2012, and another user in the forum reported that the new release also fixed the issue on his Windows 2008 system too, so I think this might also work for Windows 7.

I have 10.0.1 version, however for now the problem has not been seen. For update I have first to uninstall the old version?
No, you can use the installation package to update the installed version. It may automatically uninstall the old version and then install the new version if required.

Ok thanks!
