I have just installed the new SUSE 12 in vmware 5.1u1 - using suse 11 as the hardware version as 12 isn't listed yet. Is there a setting for the vm to enable cut-copy-paste for suse 12 ?
I'm also using the open-vm-tools as recommended by vmware though I would prefer a VMware version for SUSE 12. Hopefully they are working on it.
Thanks
Starting with vSphere 4.1, the Copy and Paste options are, by default, disabled due to security concerns. Check out this KB Article to enable it : VMware KB: Clipboard Copy and Paste does not work in vSphere Client 4.1 and later
You need to update to 5.1 Update 2 (or even better 5.5U2) to get support for SUSE 12.
Here is a link to the compatibility guide as a reference:

I've done some more research and found the following:
SUES 12 is using open-vmware-tools 9.4 and from what I can tell this version doesn't have clipboard sharing yet. Looks like that came out with version 9.10
So it looks like I'm going to have to wait until SUSE updates their open-vmware-tools package.
