Cant start 2 VMs at the same time - memory issues

I m running into troubles trying to run 2 VMS at the same time. VMWare Workstation 10

The first VM starts without any troubles. But when i try to start the 2nd one i get the following error message:

Not enough physical memory is available to power on this virtual machine with its configured settings.To fix this problem, power off other virtual machines, decrease the memory size of this virtual machine to 2152 MB, increase the amount of physical memory for all virtual machines to 3477 MB, or adjust the additional memory settings to allow more virtual machine memory to be swapped.

I gave each VM 3072 MB RAM and set the reserved memory in the Workstation Preferences to 9216 MB. Additional memory is set to "Allow some virtual machine memory to be swapped"

Each VM runs Windows 7 SP1, only program installed so far is Microsoft Security Essentials. I have tried multiple fixes, from reinstalling VMWare to doing changes to the config.ini file.

Here is my current Hardware:

I gladly take any advice, i m totally new to VMWare, i dont see my hardware being the issue but i might overlook something that is easy spot able for an advanced user.

I would like an answer to this too. I have 32 GB of RAM and I can't seem to start any VMs after applying Windows 8.1 updates today. There is absolutely no question I have enough free memory.

Hey rowland, there is actually a workaround for your problem concerning Windows 8.1. Please check out the link below.

Windows 8.1 October rollup KB2995388 and issue with Workstation 10

Thank you for the link. That fixed my problem. I should have scrolled down further in the forum, but I thought your issue might have been the same thing. Greatly appreciated!

Try adding a line with "vmmon.disableHostParameters = TRUE" on config.ini file located at C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Workstation like described here: VMware KB: After installing Windows 7 SP1, VMware Workstation reports the error: Not enough physical...

Your suggestion is one of the first things i found doing my googling, I gave it another shot since i reinstalled vmware just a few hours ago. When i start my 2nd VM i get this message at the moment the vm finishes the bootprocess and starts loading windows.

When i hit ok, the 2nd vm powers off, the other one is uneffected and continues to run.

Take a look at this another thread: Re: Workstation not recognising reserved RAM

I have tried adding these two lines to the config.ini file:

prefvmx.useRecommendedLockedMemSize = "FALSE"

prefvmx.minVmMemPct = "0"

Still getting the same error i posted above. Also tried 2 install Windows 7 32 bit without SP1 having the same outcome.

Nonetheless, thank you for trying to help out Richardson Porto.
