Hello all!
I'm experimenting with ESXi on my home computer, but keep running into the "No Network Adapters" error, which I understand is because the 5.5 default drivers don't support the Intel I218-V on my Asus H97M-Plus motherboard.
I've looked through these forums and others, and understand that I can use the ESXi Customizer v2.7.2 to add the Intel drivers. The latest version I can find in a .VIB file is net-e1000e-2.3.2.x86_64 which don't seem to work. The latest version I can fine on Intel's site is e1000e-3.0.4. I've tried using the Customizer to insert that version without success.
Also, I'm trying to run ESXi from a bootable USB drive which I create from the ISO using Rufus-1.4.9
My system specs are:
Asus H97M-Plus
Intel 4790S
32GB DDR3-1600 RAM
What's the next step?
Thanks,
FYI: The install command was processed only after adding the following options to the command:
esxcli software vib install --no-sig-check -f -v /tmp/e1000e-3.1.0.2-glr.vib
I know it's dirty, but maybe this is helpful.
Thanks GLRoman
I just had to come say Thank You! I had been searching for what felt like an eternity for fix to get my system up and going and this did the trick.
Thx, I get it!
I added through PowerCLI drivers for Intel I218-V into ESXi 5.5.0 update02 distrib. After that raid-driver for Asus Z97-PRO through ESXi-Customizer.
I can give the ISO image if you need.

Okey, let me know if you find it, ill customize one later today. I need the 5.5.0u2 offline bundle tho.
Anyone out there who have 5.5 u2 offline bundle? I dont have access to download it. I've requested permissions but they havent aswered it yet.
Well, ftp://217.21.54.69/
You have 2-4 days to download, I think. It is test server & his life will not long
I`ll make another serv later, if You need.
PS: don`t see the title during installation, my bad. This is ESXi 5.5 u2
Thank you for taking the time to post ESXi5.5_I218V_z77.iso
I tried it just to be sure (along with several attempts in adding various xxx.vib files) but no luck.
Is there any way to get a ESXi5.5_I218V_z97 ? Any idea who I can talk too or how I can build that? I have a Asus z97 pro. Thanks for Any guidance. Kevin donovake@optonline.net
Ftp still working...
I got a customized ISO, with I218V and the AHCI/SATA vibs added. The ESXi Customizer doesnt work for the I218V vib so I added it via PowerCLI. Its quite easy if you take some time and try to learn it.
FTP worked great, ftp://217.21.54.69/ (I have a 50K bps business line for download)
Is there any chance you can put the custom install iso out where we can FTP it ? Love that if you can. Thanks
This ISO has I218-v VIB added, and also VIB for ASMedia and Intel Sata/Ahci controller. I used PowerCLI to add the VIBS.
In return, Id like some help with my ESXi. I can successfully install on my SSD disk, but when I booting, all I can see is a black screen with a "|" i the right top corner. Anyone know why?
Regards,
Jonas
Is the any other disk or thumbdrive connected?
Recently I got the same error when I moved disks from a Synologie-NAS to a host.
--> After the post bios, connect the disk while running.
Boot with a bootmedia like Windows Server and go the setup point who you can clean old data on disk.
Reboot without bootmedia.
Alright, Ill try that later today. There is a 2TB Seagate connected aswell. Both are clean, just bought them.
Could it be any BIOS settings? Read an article about an MSC setting that requiered to be enabled, Ill also check that.
Thx.
