I'm attempting to install the 5.1.2 SRM plug in on a user's PC and am seeing the error below:
"An existing version of VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager Plugin is already installed on this machine that does not support upgrades.
Please remove the existing version and run setup again to continue."
The plug in wasn't installed previously so there's nothing to remove.
Any ideas for a workaround?
You can use a silent uninstaller but it is always better to use Add/Remove programs. Command for silent uninstall is: msiexec.exe /qn /x {35A202EA-1549-4592-97A5-65F5E4CCDEC9}.
Check that after login to Virtual Center, you don't have 'Site Recovery' icon at Home->Solutions and Applications. Also you need to search and remove the plugin in the machine where vSphere Client is installed.

The Site Recovery Icon doesn't appear on this machine and the plug in isn't installed according to control panel Add/Remove programs.
Is the plug-in present at all? It should be under
C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Plugins\VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager
Duh, why didn't I think of that! Turns out he actually has an old version installed even though the Site Recovery Icon didn't show up in the Vcenter client.
