Richardson is incorrect, disregard his statement ("But..").

You're running advanced edition therefore you have access to the Custom UI. Simply do the follow:

1. Edit the collector permissions for vC Ops to block the view of VMs that you do not want to see. Heed the warnings and caveats of the "monitoring subset" KB above, as you'll want to limit access at a cluster level to avoid "hidden resource" scenarios where you play peak-a-book with resource consumption/allocation.

2. vC Ops will now stop collection on the VMs, simply because it cannot access their data anymore. Use the Custom UI to delete those resources using the Enviornment Overview browser... entirely GUI and not very difficult.

3. Done.

*Note, vC Ops licensed itself by POWERE ON VMs. Simply powering off / deleting / blocking access to a VM will cause vC Ops to stop counting it towards you license allocation. The update intervals is 20-30min for this license count.

This KB shows how to select only s subset of VM to monitor: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1036195

BUT, this need to be made before the initial discovery and there is no supported way to remove the VM after the initial discovery:

Note: The permissions have to be set in the Hosts and Clusters view and the Virtual Machines and Templates view for the collection to occur. The above information applies to the vCenter Operations Appliance which has not performed any discovery yet on the objects of the vCenter Inventory. When the appliance has discovered the objects, it continues to show up in the list of objects and consume licenses. Currently there is no supported method to remove these objects from vCenter Operations Standard/Advanced editions, either 1.x or 5.x. If you want to remove the objects once already discovered, the only supported method is to perform a reinstall.
