!!!!!VIB drivers for Realtek RTL8111DL and install it via Vcenter, not cli, in a running production ESxi5.5 server

Hi mates,

someone can provide it and show me how to add it in a ESxi5.5 production server? I don´t want to customize and ISO and start from the scratch.

As far I search I found *.VIB files and going to the KB , an look how to install it via vcenter appears:

***********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Existing ESXi installation using VMware Update Manager

You can install async drivers on an existing ESXi host using VMware Update Manager. For more information, see Using vSphere ESXi Image Builder CLI in the vSphere Installation and Setup Guide.

Note: Async drivers are developed by third-party vendors and are subjected to VMware certification. Third-party vendors provide recommendations/suggestions to upgrade their drivers/firmware for specific versions of ESXi/ESX. Therefore, VMware does not include these async drivers automatically in Update Manager.

To install the async drivers:

  1. Extract the contents of the async driver zip file.
  2. Identify the offline-bundle.zip file(s).
  3. From vCenter Server, go to Home > Update Manager.
  4. Click the Patch Repository tab.
  5. Click the Import Patches link at the top right of the screen.
  6. Click Finish. The async driver is added to the patch repository.
  7. Create a Host Extension baseline and remediate the ESXi host. For more information, see the Update Manager Administration Guide.
  8. Reboot the ESXi host once the remediation is complete.

*******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

what is the async driver ZIP file?  I only found a *.VIB

what is the offline-bundle.zip file(s). ??

in point 3 I opened my Vcenter HOME , and I don´t see UPDATE MANAGER , see picture  Capture.JPG

So, I am lost ..again  :smileyplain:.. Could someone provice the drivers for a REALTEK RTL811DL and show me how to install it easy in a production server.?

Thansk a lot to all

Jesus

Did you install the plugin?

As I said, VUM is made of two parts: the server and the client plugin.

You install the server from the installation media, and the plugin from the vSphere Client itself.

I found for you a detailed post with screenshots: vSphere Update Manager (VUM) (Part 2) - Installation

vSphere Update Manager (VUM) must be installed separately. It is comprised of two main components: Update Manager server and plug-in (for the vSphere Client).

The server can be installed only in a Windows machine, but for your convenience it can be installed on vCenter Server itself, so you don't necessarily need another machine.

VUM is found on your installation media:

Installation is pretty straight forward, but please follow this link for information on everything you need to know. VMware vCenter Update Manager Release Notes
