How do I create a .vmdk with 4K native sector size?

I want to create a .vmdk with 4K native sector size to test how various bootloaders and operating systems work (or most likely not work) with such a drive.  Is this possible in VMware Workstation 9?  Note: I do not want 512e.  Each sector must only be accessible using 4096 bytes sector size.
