Host asking for a datastore every time, even it was configured with a datastore.

Hi,

My name is rajan. Always I am facing a problem in vcenter server. when i am trying to log-in with vsphere client i am noticing that a host always asking that configure new datastore. Even it was already configured with a datastore. when i am trying to rescan my storage adapters the problem is solving automatically. Could someone give me one permanent solution for this?

Thanks & Best regards,

Nagarajan.

try giving a look at VMware KB: VMware ESX/ESXi 4.x/5.0 hosts in All-Paths-Down (APD) condition may appear as Not Respond...

are your VMFS dtastore on iSCSI or FC?

try to make timeout longer

To change the login timeout from the vSphere Client:

  1. Go to Storage Adapters > iSCSI Software Adapter > Properties
  2. Click Advanced and scroll down to LoginTimeout
  3. Change the value from 5 seconds to a larger value, such as 15 or 30 seconds.

To adjust the iSCSI login timeout in ESXi 5.0 from the command line, run this command:

esxcli iscsi adapter param set -A adapter_name -k LoginTimeout -v value_in_sec

For example:

esxcli iscsi adapter param set -A vmhba33 -k LoginTimeout -v 60
