Copy and Paste between Fusion 6.0.2 host and Windows VM

Hi,

I've just updated OSX to 10.9.2 and now seem to be having an issue where copy and paste between my Fusion 6.0.2 host machine and my Windows 8.1 VM. I've tried reinstalling the VMWare Tools but to no avail. Can you advise what logs are needed to troubleshoot the issue?

Many Thanks

Simon

Thanks for using fusion. Did you copy paste a file or copy past a text content?

Could you attach the vmware.log in VM bundle (right click the vm in Finder and Show Package Contents) as welll as the vmware-vmfusion.log in ~/Library/Logs/VMware Fusion/vmware-vmfusion.log?

By the way, is drag and drop a file from host to vm works?

Hi there,

Interesting development....I followed the instructions in this discussion vmware Fusion 6 - vmware tools core service does not work to change settings for default applications and the copy/paste function for text content is now working. I've attached the vmware logs from before and after the change was made (I shutdown Fusion and restarted the VM at 11.36am).

Thanks

Simon

This also seems to be an issue with me as well.  Using 10.9.2 and Fusion Pro 6.0.2.  I tried the method in the alternate post you linked to, but to no avail.  Drag and drop, copy/paste text and or files.......none function.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling VMware tools....got nowhere either.  Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for reporting this issue, if you consistent meet this issue, you may restart your Mac host and restart your VM as well to see if any help.

It hasn't helped.  Same issue.  Stopped working after 10.9.2.  I am going to create a new VM tomorrow to see what happens.

I too have had this difficulty.

I just did 2 things and it is back for now.  I do not know which one or both fixed the issue.

1 Go to Virtual machine menu > Settings > Default Applications

Disable Open your Mac files and web links by using Windows applications

restart windows

2.  Reinstalled the VMWare Tools with the repair option and restarted.

I can now cut and paste both ways.
