ESXi 5.5 - processor upgrade

I am currently using the free version of ESXi 5.5 at home to learn more about it. I built the system with and AMD dual core processor and would like to change the processor to a quad core. My question is - will it recognize the change, or will I need to re-install ESXi ?

Thanks

There is no need to reinstall in most cases. Just you should check your CPU family.

thank you for the response and link. I believe I should be safe as the motherboard specifically lists the CPU I am going to install, so there is no firmware upgrade needed.
