VMware 6.01 on Fedora 18

Hello,

While tryng to update from VMplayer 6.0 to VMplayer 6.0.1, the following was prompted:

"Your hard drive is full. Free some space and try again"

Screenshot from 2013-11-01 11_37_46.png

But my hard drive is not full!:

Filesystem                     Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
devtmpfs                       1.7G     0  1.7G   0% /dev
tmpfs                          1.7G  492K  1.7G   1% /dev/shm
tmpfs                          1.7G  6.7M  1.7G   1% /run
tmpfs                          1.7G     0  1.7G   0% /sys/fs/cgroup
/dev/mapper/vg_waldyd-lv_root   50G   16G   33G  33% /
tmpfs                          1.7G  232M  1.5G  14% /tmp
/dev/sdb1                      477M  161M  288M  36% /boot
/dev/mapper/vg_waldyd-lv_home   92G   66G   22G  76% /home
/dev/sr0                       4.4G  4.4G     0 100% /run/media/waldyd/UDF Volume

I have 33G available a / and 22G available at /home. Any ideas why is this happening?

Beforehand Thanks.

I had exactly the same issue with Xubuntu 12.04 and vmplayer 6.0.0->6.0.1.

Tried to solve this in the spare time for roughly a month, I even produced and went through the >60000 line long strace output from vmplayer when starting the upgrade until the error was throwed.

No success.

Finally I gave up. I downloaded the vmplayer 6.0.1 distribution bundle from vmware.com and installed it over the current 6.0.0.

The installation went smoothly and everything works OK now.

This is my workaround for the issue in subject, I hope it helps everybody concerned.
