Vmware fusion 6 - unity view with retina display

Hello,

I just installed VMware fusion 6, and i m trying to use the unity view which seems a nice feature Smiley Happy

But I can't get the resolution right on my retina display ( the unity window seems to be a zoomed version of the initial window).

I have checked in the display settings, and the support for retina is set.

Am I the only one have this issue? Do you know how we can fix it?

Thanks for your help,

Bernard

Hi

Welcome to the communities.

Did you checked graphics card compatibility ?

Take care!

Hi,

Thanks for your interest. I have a 15'' macbook pro with intel iris and NVIDIA GeForceGT 750 (late 2013).

I would suppose that fusion 6 supports any recent macbook pro configuration...

Do you have any idea how I can get a better resolution with the unity mode?

Thanks,

Bernard

I have the same problem which makes unity view useless.  Hoping that you had received a solution.

I had to switch to parallels ( they offer discount if you have a fusion license)

Not my preferred solution, but the fastest as it seems to give vmware issues to react on this...

I came across another thread Re: Fusion 6, Retina and Display Resolution - Can I disable "auto fit"? which included:

"Here's what I did to get my display working:

1. I enabled "Use full resolution for Retina display" in the Display settings of my Windows VM.

2. I disabled "Automatically adjust resolution size in Windows" (to stop VMWare tools from adjusting my Windows display scaling)

3. Manually set Windows scaling to 100%

4. Changed my Windows screen resolution to a very workable 1680x1050 or even 1920x1200."

I followed these steps except for #4 which wasn't necessary.   Unity view is working brilliantly now with OS X and Win 8.1 seemless.

BTW I'm using Fusion 5, Win 8.1, OS Maverick.
