Custom VMTX Template File Doesn't Migrate to Deployed VMs

Hello,

I was interested in the following:

How to install windows 8 on esxi 4.1 ?

Basically I made a change to a virtual machine template VMTX file. However, when I deploy or clone this template to either a new VM or template, the change doesn't migrate to the newly deployed VM/template and I have to edit the VMX/VMTX file to keep the change.

So, my question is: Is there a way to keep custom VMTX changes when the template is deployed to a new VM?

Thank you very much,

John

Sorry, one last question, if there another method to edit the VMX or VMTX file other than through downloading/uploading the file or through SSH?

Thanks,

John

Not sure about the first question, but as for editing the VMX, you should be able to browse the datastore from the vSphere client, find the file(s), download them your local machine, edit, and then upload/replace.

ClintColding,

Thanks for the time and your reply.

My inquiry:

"Sorry, one last question, if there another method to edit the VMX or VMTX file other than through downloading/uploading the file or through SSH?"

As stated in my inquiry, I was asking if there was another method to modify the VMX files outside of downloading the file, editing it, and uploading it or via vi via SSH. For instance, through the vSphere Client.

Thanks,

Johnathan
