I stared out with CENTOS 6.1 and have been patching steadily to the current version of 6.5. Each time I've patched up to the next dot release I have to reinstall the vmware-tools. Even if the version of the tools hasn't changed. I install the tools by extracting the vmware-tools and running vmware-install.pl. Is this normal for CentOS 6.x? I don't have to do this with SUSE 11.x for vmware.
Another question I have is in SUES 11.x for VMware the vmware-tools are installed as a service but I don't see the same setup in CENTOS. How are the vmware-tools installed and started in CENTOS if they are not a service ?
