Prior to recommend any actions, it's important to fully understand the current situation. Please provide details about the datastore and the VM's files.
- A complete list of files in the VM's folder. Either the output of ls -lisa from the command line or - if this isn't possible - a screenshot of the datastore browser window with all columns, i.e. names, sizes, time stamps!
- Are there other VM's on the same datastore which you can temporarily power off (basically to temporarily free up some disk space used by their .vswp files)
