I have a Windows XP SP3 virtual machine running on a Windows 7 32bit host with 8 monitors. Everytime I reboot, I have to click the cycle multiple monitors button over a dozen times to get my preferred layout.
Is there a way to set a default so that I don't have to cycle through all the layouts on each restart? If not, is there a hot-key combination for the button so that I don't have to follow the top menu bar all over the place to continue to click the cycle multiple monitors button? I read several posts about the same issue, but have not seen a solution yet.
Here are my svga settings from the .VMX
svga.autodetect = "FALSE"
svga.maxWidth = "6400"
svga.maxHeight = "4800"
svga.vramSize = "134217728"
Thanks for any ideas.
Unfortunately, no, there is no shortcut to switch to N monitors without cycling through all the possible topologies. We've had a few similar requests, and we'll consider making this easier to use in a future version.

Thanks for the response. At least I can stop looking for working solution. I hope that the feature will be added sooner rather than later.
We also need this badly.
We need the vm to bootup into full screen mode with dual monitors for SCADA control systems. Right now that is a manual process. Not good.

I'm suprised that you have had only a "few" requests for this functionality. I'm guessing 99% of us would be absolutely thrilled if you would allow a saved screen/monitor layout. Anybody else out there want this feature?
Hello
Fully agree, I would love this feature too
Trying to run VMWare for an Industrial SCADA setup, to run Windows XP on a Windows 7 x64 machine.
We only need a dual setup for this system, however having to click the "cycle multiple monitors" button is unacceptable in the eyes of the client.
We have Windows 7 automatically booting VMWare Player and the VM itself automatically, and then when the VM boots I have it launching the SCADA automatically, however the screen is all messed up as you have to click the cycle multiple monitors button. Rather frustrating.
Please add this feature
Regards
J
+1 for this thread request.
I'm also running several different environments on my workstation that I'd like to auto fullscreen to two screens that I specify. Right now it is a multi-step process to do this manually.
Obviously, I'd love to have my VM remember which monitors it's supposed to run on, but it would be an improvement if you could even just give the cycle multiple monitors button a drop down of the different configuruations... I have 4 monitors, and it takes me a while to cycle through to get the right combo each and everytime I start up my VM.
Thanks for the feedback! It's very helpful for us to know how much our users want this feature.
Hello
What is the current state of this issue? We use several VMware products and a customer of us needs a solution for VMware Player...
I am also setting up a SCADA system, for which VMware is an ideal solution. However, the client will not want to have to click the button every time it boots up. It seems a simple request to save the last configuration.
First reported as a nuisance for everyone using multiple monitors back in January of 2012 - no response or solution since then? Is this not an issue? I've got 8 monitors - same as the original poster - and it is a royal pain to cycle through all possible combinations to get the 8 monitors up and running.
Can someone please get this addressed in a future release? It's long overdue don't you think?
I need this feature as well. Is this ever going to get fixed?
Ideally, this would work in conjunction with VMWare Workstation KVM mode, so I could keyboard shortcut switch between multiple OS's with all of them staying in dual screen mode.
Hello,
is there after 3 years a way for automatic "Cycle Multiple Monitors"
Greetings from Germany
Heiko
I have just now installed and am now running VMware Workstation 11 for the first time.
It seems that an automatic "Cycle Multiple Monitors" feature is STILL not implemented. If I, as a new user, am already missing this feature, then why can't VMware implement this feature after 3 years of receiving first requests for this feature from its users on this community forum??!!
Can you tell us all if VMware Workstation 12 has this feature implemented??!!
If not, then WHEN will this feature be implemented??!!
Thanks!
I also need this feature. I am running VMware Workstation 12 and cannot get the VM to automatically open on 2 Monitors. Has anyone found a "work-around"? I cannot start a 2nd VM for the 2nd screen or an extra Remote-Desktop session because of licensing restrictions.
Any news on this?
Any chance that this is now a feature?
Seriously? 2021 and still not even a reply other than the original "we will think about it".

This is for my use case one of the most important features that'd deliver the final polish to my projects. I hope dearly to see it in the next major release of Workstation.
As for the OP, an ahk script can accomplish what you need. It'll take some tinkering but gets the job done.
