Just that really - if I have (for example) two vCenter Server instances, can they be managed by a single Update Manager server?
Just for some background - I'm looking at using the VCSA (appliance) to replace multiple Windows based vCenter Servers. The appliance will save on the cost of the MSSQL licenses but not if I need a MSSQL license for a Update Manager installation at each site. If that's the case I may as well just use the WIndows vCenter Server instance and configure Update Manager on the same box...
Appreciate any thoughts anyone has.

Each VC needs its own VUM.
Regarding the cost of SQL license, if you dont have a huge inventory, the bundled SQL express DB should serve your purpose for VUM.

One UM per vCenter
Hello all,
Is it possible to install multiple instances of VUM on the same box? I'm using the appliance version of vcenter for a couple of installations to save on Windows licencing but it seems a complete waste to have to set up two separate servers just for VUM!!
VUM does require Windows and each VC needs it's own dedicated VUM server, however you can use 1 SQL server to host all 4 databases.
For smaller environments the express version of SQL included with VUM should work fine.
This is 1 component VMware really needs to work on, especially with their push to the Web client which doesn't support the VUM components.
