Dear all,
Hi I am working on Vsphere 5.5. My VMs are greyed out and are inaccessible, and my shared datastore is inactive, iscsi target server is up and working, all the paths and targets are visible, unable to find what's the problem. Kindly provide me a solution. Please find the attached screen shots.
Hi Sunny,
Did you tried opening it from the vcenter Client UI. It may be happend due to the issue in network .
you can follow this to troubleshoot this situation.
http://virtualizationisfuture.blogspot.no/2013/02/how-to-bring-orphan-virtual-machine.html
Try these steps :
A. Connect directly to host and see if you are still face the same issues
B. Browse to the datastore and see if the VM's are located.
C. Try restarting the management agents
D. Try to unregister and register the VM again to inventory .
Assuming that the VM's are up and running. Just that the VM's are in invalid state.
Hi,
It seems this would be an issue with your SAN, or the network that connects you to it.
you need to check this with your network team..
Thanks
Rebooting SAN also didn't help, Network connections were perfect. I was unable to trace the .vmx files of the VMs when i browsed the shared datastore. I wasn't able to unregister VM as the option was greyed out.
Hi sunny,
Try this.. VMware KB: Deleting an orphaned virtual machine when the Remove option is not available
Also for tracing the .vmx file search out the disk for that vms vmdk file and locate it in datastore. the vmx will be in same folder ..
Hi Sunny, This could not always be issue from host or N/W, check with storage team metadata on the storage LUN might have corrupted.
