VM Player 5 won't open VM Workstation 10 session

I created a VM using Workstation 10, and copied the VM session to a different computer - one running Player 5. When I try to open the VM session I get an error message:

The configuration file "C:\WinXP Pro SP3 VM\WinXP Pro SP3 VM.vmx" was created by a VMware product that is incompatible with this version of VMware Player and cannot be used.

     Cannot open the configuration file C:\WinXP Pro SP3 VM\WinXP Pro SP3 VM.vmx.

Both the PC used to create the VM session and the one trying to run it, are Win7-64 Enterprise. I'm attaching a copy of the error message.

I've never encountered this issue before - so I'm not sure how to proceed. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks - Ian

Create a new VM in VMware Player using the existing virtual hard disk or manually edit the .vmx configuration file changing the virtual hardware version to 9.  Have a look at: Virtual machine hardware versions (1003746)

Yes - that worked. Thanks so much! What a PITA that was.

Best,
