Not recognizing all hosts

I'm running a what-if scenario for one of my clusters.  There are four hosts in the cluster, but vCOPS is showing only 3.  I've unchecked the HA option in the Configuration so it should be showing me the full capacity of my cluster.  Any thoughts?

Are all 4 hosts showing up properly AND reporting in performance stats in the regular vC Ops operations panes?

When you say that vC Ops is only showing 3 hosts in the what-if scenario, can you please attach a screenshot of that exact screen where you see that?

Which what-if scenario branch are you attempting? (add VMs, change cluster resources, etc.)

Thanks,

Mark

All 4 hosts are showing in vCOPS and reporting.vCOPS1.png

I've attached a screen shot.  You can see it says Host count: 3.

The what-if scenario is adding VMs.

The first page in the export tells me it's reporting from May 19 to Dec. 14th.  I'm wondering if because I had HA turned on in vCOPS until a few days ago if that's why it's only showing me 3 hosts.  However, I turned that off and I can't change the reporting date for a what-if scenario export.

I see where you're going with that, but it re-calcs even the most infrequent planning #s each day so I'd find it unlikely. It'll reflect the usable capacity changes in your config policy immediately in the scenarios/views, so I don't it has to do with making a change and thinking it hasn't been recalc'd yet.

Look at the metrics for the cluster. Specifically, view the Cluster resource, then go to the all metrics browser. Go to the summary > attribute group and see how many hosts are reporting. Also, go to the capacity > attribute group and see what that's reporting. See if this reflects 3 hosts or 4 worth of resources.

Like you said, HA can certainly impact the usable capacity, but that's depending on your configuration. Can you check out your config policy for me? Do you have just one policy and is it called "default"? I ask because I'd like to ensure your hosts are all using the same policy. Also, are you using physical or usable capacity in tab 3a?

So...I adjusted some views and it seems like all hosts are showing up right now.  Not sure if re-running just did the trick or what happened exactly...but it's working properly now.

Thanks for all your help!

To provide access to a cluster:

Use the vSphere Client to connect to the vCenter Server system that you want to monitor.

Select Home > Inventory > Hosts and Clusters.

Right-click the cluster and select Add Permission.

Click Add to identify the user or group to assign a role and click OK.

Select Read-only from the Assigned Role dropdown.

    Select Propagate to Child Objects.

Click OK to close the Assign Permissions dialog box.

Select Home > Inventory > Datastores.

On the Permissions tab for the datastores that are associated with the clusters to monitor, right-click the same user and click Properties.

Select Read-only as the role and click OK.

In the vCenter Operations Standard Administration page, assign the user with the Read-only role as the collection user and proceed to register vCenter

Operations Standard with the vCenter Server system.
