Is Security Server a requirement for Workspace external web access?

Security Server is a requirement for View access via external web.  If I am using Workspace as the front end for external web access does Workspace leverage the View Security Server or is that functionality built into Workspace?

Also,  if I have Horizon Suite,  would there be any reason not to use Workspace as the primary interface for consumers,  instead of the View Client?

Thanks,

Horizon Workspace do require an external DMZ security component for public access. Our reference architecture uses a F5 load balancer but any reverse proxy/load balancer capable of terminate the SSL traffic will do. The View Security Server is only supporting View. Horizon Workspace is perfect for the end-user to gain access to their View desktops as well as all their other it-resources like apps and files but it is not dealing with the communication. Having Horizon Workspace does not replace the need for a Security Server (or using F5 to deal with the communication).

Here's a document on how to set it up using a F5..
