2 Node HA cluster

Dear All,

we need give solution for our customer with 10VMs. high availability is main requirement. we are design two node vmware cluster. cluster with 2 nodes recommended design ? please advice ...

I build many 2 node clusters in the past without any issues. Do note that when you need to perform an upgrade of ESXi you will be running temporarily without protection for your VMs... Because if you are doing an upgrade that host will probably be in maintenance mode and won't be used as a fail-over target. Hence many people will recommend going with 3 as the minimum. Nevertheless, two works fine.

Yes it is possible to have a HA cluster with just two hosts. You should make sure the each host has the capability of running all the 10VM's at a time in case of a single host failure.

Can someone pls elaborate on the NIC teamming

I refereed, fig 1 in http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/techpaper/vmw-vsphere-high-availability.pdf

But not particularly convinced, say a dell 1950 will be my esxi node it will have 4 on board nic card .. so what would be the way to set that up & any simple sets if anyoen has handy ..
