Applying SQL Server 2008 SP1 on Vcenter running on a virtual machine

Hello,

I have a virtual center running as a VM guest and there are two hosts in HA cluster. SQL express 2008 R2 is used for the database of Vcenter. I wanted to backup the database of Vcenter and was searching and found on internet vmware article telling to install MS SQL studio express 2008 to take backup of database OR to schedule it. I downloaded it and when trying to run I got this messagecompatibility_issues.jpg

so before proceeding for this I downloaded the SQL server 2008 R2 express 64 bit SP1, I need to know can I proceed for the installation of SP1 and this is a virtual vcenter and I am connected through vsphere client, any disruptions will happen to two hosts in cluster and other VM's? because I expect virtual vcenter will require a re-start after installation of the SP1.

While reading I found

http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_vc_in_vm.pdf

on page 5 it says Limitations items 3, 'any other operations which power down the virtual machine'

So I need advise if I can do this service pack installation and then management studio to get the virtual vcenter backed up.

Thanks,

Select Run program and see if it works with the SQL you have. If it doesn't you can always uninstall it. Its just a warning about compatibility.

Hi

Welcome to the communities.

you are running 64bit application ,please check your HCL are supporting this .

You may right click on exe and check older version on compatibility tab.
