Upgrade of vCenter Appliance 5.1 to 5.5 fail with "500 Cannot connect to remote server"

Greetings from Singapore.

I've been trying to upgrade a vCenter Appliance 5.1 to 5.5. I hit the error as shown in the attached screenshot. Consulting google, kb.vmware.com and socialcast does not seem to help.

I have 2 vCenter 5.1 appliance, sharing 1 SSO 5.1 server. I've done upgrade of the first vCenter Appliance, and it went well. I suspect the problem lies with this particular vCenter.

So now I have 1 vCenter Appliance 5.5 (with embedded SSO 5.5) and 1 vCenter Appliance 5.1 (pointing to the SSO 5.5 in the other vCenter, so the SSO is external)

The vCenter 5.1 is running fine, I can login and it's managing the ESXi and VM. The only problem is the web client is not working well. If I change the SSO to point to itself, then I could not login via web client (I could login via c# client, so the problem is only on the web client). The web server would come up, but when login with root, I got the error "vSphere web client is missing lookup service configuration". I only found 1 useful link on this error, and I followed that. The suggested solution was to configure client.properties or webclient.properties file. I did both, rebooted, and still no luck.

Much appreciate your expertise.

Cheers!

Thanks Jayden56. No, it's not related to it. This is a vCenter issue, not ESXi.
