.snapshot folder How to delete

Hello all

Recently started a new job. In reviewing the ESXi 5.0.469512 datastore, I noticed a folder called ".snapshot" after expanding the folder contained many more folders each labeled nightly.0, hourly.0, hourly.1 inside these folders contained an exact match of the virtual machines in the root of the datastore. I checked the Scheduled Task on this server, we don't have anything running. My question is: How would you remove this folder? It's taking up lots of disk space.

Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you!

These may be created by storage snapshots. Please check with your storage team.

Before doing anything please verify everything..one more thing..never remove any snapshot file directly from data store ..there might be chance to loose data..always delete snapshot from VM's snapshot manager..
