Viewing SuperMetrics

I set up a supermetric according to this article:

https://communities.vmware.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/2139394-98096/vcops_super_metrics_in_vsp...

However, where do I actually view the results of what the supermetric calculates?

vCenter Operations Manager ensures that it does not double count the values. Also if you have collected enough data the Super Metric preview should show immediate results on this metric. Best regards

I don't see the supermetric preview - where do I find the supermetric preview? Outside of the supermetric preview, where would I be seeing it?  Is it normally in the vsphere UI or just in the Custom UI?

You still need to create a widget in a dashboard using those supermetrics  ... is that what you are asking?

apparently that is the missing piece - so once I create a supermetric the output doesn't automatically appear in the existing configuration of my custom UI unless a create a widget to allow me to view it?

Supermetrics are only viewable in the Custom UI. You can view these supermetrics using any of the available widgets that displays metrics in addition to the built-in "show detail" and drill-down dashboards. So you can use widgets to view them or the built-in dashboards to drill down in to them using "all attributes" views. SMs won't automatically show somewhere - like all other attributes they need to be selected for viewing in widgets.

Like you select attributes in a widget to show metrics, you will select SMs from the attributes list. SMs are always populated and ordered to be at the top of attributes lists.

Once you create a supermetric, you have to create a supermetric package, then assign the package to one or more resources.  Then the supermetric is available in the metrics selector for that resource.
