Hi,
recently the System Health tab show that DataCollector-Embedded (Host: XYZ) is down. Strangely the issue occours since a few weeks.
This resolution (VMware KB: vCenter Chargeback Manager 2.5 Patch 01 ) doesn't work so I've setup a clean reinstallation of vCenter Chargeback Manager v2.5.1 (before and without patch: 2.5.0).
After the reinstallation the status of the data collector shows "UP". YEAHHH!!
But... a few minutes later the status is "DOWN" again.
I've no idea what i can do to solve this problem. Anyone an idea?
Regards
Can you upload the logs from C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware vCenter Chargeback\DataCollector-Embedded\logs??
You can zip them and attach it to your reply.
This is the issue thats causing the collector to fail.
Login failed for user 'cbkmgmt'. Reason: The password of the account has expired.
Please update/change the password and add also change the password in Settings---->vcenter servers----Edit and update the password.
Thanks a lot!!
I've set the pwd to never expire for the user "cbkmgmt".
But "cbkmgmt" is the Chargeback database, and not the vCenter database user.
With the vCenter Chargeback Manager Tools --> "Update vCenter Chargeback Manager Database Credentials" I've renewed the pwd for "cbkmgmt".
The data collector is still down (after disabling and enabling the data collector in the setting tab)
I think there is another problem or maybe a problem with the chargeback database?
It also says that it could not complete the transaction to vcnter database. Check the credentials again and try.
Hi
Also check the VPXV_HIST_STAT_DAILY, VPXV_HIST_STAT_WEEKLY, VPXV_HIST_STAT_MONTHLY and VPXV_HIST_STAT_YEARLY views and ensure the permissions for your chargeback user has SELECT rights. I had a similar issue around the Embedded DataCollector not connecting and this was my issue.
Cheers
David
Hi guys!
Now, a month later, I've a similar issue 😕
One of the two vCenter server show storage synchronization job 'failed'. The status of the DC changes constantly from up to down.
Maybe the attached DC log file can yield to information for resolving the problem. I'm not able to detect the problem.
Btw the reason for such recurring problems are owned by multiple devisions which are working and configuring on the vCenter environment, but that's another issue (Chargeback would become relevant at the end of Q1 2014).
regards
Daniel
Check Profile Driven Storage service on your vCenter server and the account and change it to run as the same user as vCenter. If you are getting errors when viewing the Storage views page on vCenter then this is probably the problem.
Hi,
I checked the logs and i can see storage sync job is failing because of transport error. This could happen because of the following things.
Thanks
Lakshmi
Hi Lakshmi,
Sorry for my delayed replay, Thanks a lot for your replay. It helped me in solving the issue. In my case it was VMware vSphere Profile-Driven Storage service, it was stopped somehow. when I start the service then data collecter error was resolved.
