Cloud Platform and virtualization of Remote elements

Hello

I am planning to build a Centralized Monitoring platform for America Movil (the Cellular giant with operations in Mexico, Central and SouthAmerica)

I need to know what I need to make the applications in the platform available to Monitoring Clusters, to be deployed in the vrious regions.

In the remote ends there will be a number of Monitoring Probes in the countries serviced by the regional clusters.

The Centralized platform can be viewed as a Private Cloud, and my guess is software would be deeded there, as well as at the regional clusters.

Could you please guide me to the right products to be used for this Cloud-Virtualization case?

Thanks a lot

Let me get this cleared. You have many regional offices and you have a central office. You want to host a pivate cloud out of central office and make the resources available for the regional offices or do you want to have servers in respective regional offices and have it managed using tools from your central office?

Hi

thank you for your reply

first approach is correct.

Want for the Regional Clusters to be able to access the applications residing in the Central Platform

So have you guys moved into virtualization already are yet to move? I'm asking this because you will have to have a virtualized environment before you can think of anything on the cloud perspective.

ok,

we just received the requirement from the TOP Management:

Have the Monitoring System "in the Cloud" and have the regions access it remotely (via Internet), to save CAPEX (and OPEX)

There are some efforts being made to provide Cloud Services to final users, but this would be an application for internal use, not for final users

Thanks

so, virtualization at the remote sites? or remote sites and central site?

You can have virtual servers running the application at your central location and they can be accessed from regional offices. Its not that easy to just talk about virtualization. You will have to see if your application can be virtualized in the first place. You will have to have a plan and lot of designing to put together to get it all working. Don't you guys have consultants or architects who can guide you guys towards virtualization or drive this whole thing?

hi

Thanks very much for your support

Yes, we have architects, who should do that part

I just wanted to start learning myself about this and identify the best products in the market. and I have heard VMWare has some top Class products for this.

Just one last question before I go to my architects:

To gain access from remote sites, both to send information to the platform and to retrieve reports from it, I would need some software at those remotes as well, right?

Thanks again

Yes VMware has lot of products which serve lot of customer's requirements. If you sit with your architects and get the exact requirements that you have, you will be able to figure out what products would fit your bill.

And yes you will need a software which can monitor your platform at remote site and generate reports.
