unity menu empty for linux guest

VMware workstation 9.02, Linux64 host and guest.

While windows guest unity menu is fine, the linux guest unity menu only reads, "Loading..." and remains empty.

I searched the site but found no help.

Hints?

Thanks,

Matthew

Thanks. Unity menus and Linux guest issues are described in the 9.00 release notes, which are a bit confusing because Ubuntu Unity and VMware Unity aren't distinguished clearly. The claim is that WS9 disables WS unity, doesn't support unity menu or toolbar using the Ubuntu Unity interface or on Linux systems using Compiz, Enlightenment, and OpenGL driver. But the unity mode does work here, it is not disabled, and the only problem is with the empty menu. Maybe the OpenGL driver is became partly supported in 9.02?

"Unity appears disabled for Ubuntu 12.04 guest
When you power on any guest using the Ubuntu Unity desktop environment (Ubuntu 11.10+), the Unity menu and Unity tool bar appears disabled. Unity is also disabled for guests using Compiz and Enlightenment window managers.

Unity has been disabled for Linux operating systems that include the new OpenGL driver. The new driver does not yet support running in Unity mode therefore the toolbar button and menu items will be disabled for virtual machines that include this driver."

And, is this issue fixed in WS10?
