Hello All.

Nice to see you all, I am new and decided to prepare myself for vcp5.dcv certification (v5.1)

I am looking to busy books and helping materials and start preparation before I start my course.

is there anyone who can share his/her experience to buy study material and guidelines for exam preparation.

Your efforts will be really appreciated!!

IMHO book are not mandatory... with the course material (if you have took the official course), the official docs, the blueprint (maybe with notes) and a lab you are fine

I too am on the VCP5 quest.  After searching for several weeks, I found this -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Learn-VMware-vSphere-5-1-ESXi-and-vCenter-with-our-Custom-Study-Lab-Guide-/2...

http://www.esxlab.com/

The book is well worth the money.  Most of the books I found assumed you already had a fair amount of knowledge with ESX as I found terms that I wasnt familiar with.  The study guide is great but the lab manual is exactly what I have been looking for as it walks me through just about everything I was looking for.  You can also rent rack time from this same company.

As always in these situations, I'd recommend 3 things:

1. Exam blueprint - to guide you

2. Software - to play with (search online for "autolab")

3. Documentation - to instruct you and to study from

Hello Scott!

Appreciated and helpful, and have more expectations from you, as I see your posts.

I am following your post where ever I see and its really helpful.

Its hard for beginner like me to be on right track for vmware certification due to confused and complicated procedure. I  I have one suggestion as a beginner, If people like you can just provide a platform where proper methods are described about different areas of specialization,certifications/versions and course materials.

Being a IT person it took a month to understand what and how to go ahead because things are scattered and mixed. Anyway there are still many things to discover, it is journey towards infinity, seems like that ..lolzzz

I look forward to get some help from senior people like you and will absolutely work as a helper and cooperative guy in the community.

Thank you again for your time and post!

Regards/Badar
