Change the MAC address of a NIC on ESXi 5.1 host

Hello,

That may be a stupid question, but I am struggling to find the answer.

In ESXi5.1, I need to change the MAC address of the physical NIC (I had to use that MAC for a VM, because some licensing stuff is linked to it).

I have been googling and reading stuff, but could not find anything.

TIA,

Olivier

Changing the MAC address of the physical NIC is NOT possible as it is embedded directly with the hardware.. On Widows VM it is possible to assign the Physical MAC address VMware KB: Changing a MAC address in a Windows virtual machine )

If possible assign static MAC on the VM and re-generated the license

Thank you.

But the license is not Windows but Flex and the licensed product is not supported anymore, so no way I can get a new license for it, I have to keep the MAC associated with the license manager.
