Storage for Desktops

Hi,

I have 4 servers

2* HP Proliant DL380 Gen-8 128GB of RAM 8*146 of HDD (Two of this)

HP Proliant DL380 G6 48GB of RAM 16*146 of HDD

HP ML350 G4P 4GB of RAM 6*300 of HDD

I want to use the HP Gen-8 Servers as Connection Server and I want to install a third-party application on HP G6 and HP G4P to converting them to NAS and then use those for storing the Desktops (Parent VM and linked clones)

We have 80 Clients with Zero clients

Is this good? How will be the performance?(Because we do not have a SAN storage and we have to use the servers for storing vm's)

Is there any better solution?

Thanks

Have you done any analysis to determine the IO requirements of your virtual desktops?     As long as those are under the what your third party (NFS) software can maintain on those servers then you should be ok.

Hi,

First, you need to do assessment of current workload of desktop users then, based on it you can decide what hardware is needed for virtual desktop or virtual machine.

You can use capacity planner software from VMware, I am not sure whether it is available for every one or not.

Log On to Capacity Planner
