unknown internal error - when finishing wizard

I have no idea where have I write my previous post, so I'm creating one more.

I have unknown internal error during conversion - when it tries to start.

Windows 2003 SBS x32 conversion to vCenter Server 5.0.0

In attached file full log of process.

Please help.

Regards,

Bartosz

There is no converter-worker logs inside? could you get the worker's logs from %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone\logs ?

If the error is when you hit the finish button, could you try the second time (just hit the finish again)?

When you are using Converter Agent to convert the phisycal machine, then the agent's logs are in this machine, at same location, could you check for this logs?

To be sure I've reinstalled Converter -> Local Instalation.

I've done during conversion -> local server -> connect to vmware datacenter -> next -> next -> I've reduce some space in new virtual drives (but bigger than minimal) -> Finish -> unknown internal error -> export diagnostic logs -> and they are this logs in attachement.

and other logs are from localization

"c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Dane aplikacji(application data)\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone\logs\"

Is there any other logs that I can have?

seems that host ibm-vmware-1 is not visible on this computer. or there is firewall which not enable required ports, see manual for ports.

Network is visible in two ways, I have full access on every port (I try to telnet some ports and I have a positive connection):

ACCEPT     lan:192.168.151.253                adm:10.0.7.50,10.0.7.51,10.0.7.52
ACCEPT     adm:10.0.7.50,10.0.7.51,10.0.7.52  lan:192.168.151.253

And of course I had positive connection during wizard process - I had to give login/password to vmware esx and I could see all virtual machines on it.

this solution does not work either:

Then try the conversion with IP instead of DNS name. HTH

Its not the solution - I've used only with IP not by DNS.

But:

I've installed Converter on VMware data-center (controlled by win 2008r2) as a client/server installation.

And I've successfully converter linux system - (I had to turn off ipsec - cause it would took ages to finish),

Still not success with W2003 SBS - but I have a different error now - I need to deploy W2003 first.

So thank you for help.

Weird that Convertion works only on vm-data-center server but, still good that it works at all so I will not comply Smiley Wink.

When the source is remote powered on windows machine, agent installed on the source sends the bits directly to the ESX server, so you'll need open network from the source machine (not only from the converter server machine) to the ESX on port 902. I guess you checked this already, but I decide to mention it just in case.

Thanks,

Zaro

Yes, and even to be sure I've put every machines in the same switch in the same IP pool to exclude router/firewall from the traffic.

If you could assist me in second problem.

I've read kb about Windows Convertion, and I thought that it was described in vm kb:

- download deployment tool: windows 2003 sp2 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=93f20bb1-97aa-4356-8b43-9584b7e72556

- extract deploy.cab to "c:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone\sysprep\svr2003\"

- run converter - and I still recieve error 2338 - platform specific error.

The agent's logs are missing, please obtain from source machine and upload.

Once again after many tryes Smiley Happy.

Vmware converter is installed on vmsphere datacenter

Converted Windows is now at the same network

I'm using logging to servers through ip

Maybe now you could forecast something from my logs.

The VC is not visible from the source machine:

2013-06-07T08:51:24.921+02:00 [06600 warning 'Default'] [,0] [NFC ERROR] NfcNewAuthdConnectionEx: Failed to connect to peer. Error: Host address lookup for server ibm-vmware-1 failed: Unknown error 11001 (0x2af9)

Thank you for reply.

I have uninstalled anti-virus, and firewall, and I disabled windows firewall, this servers are on the same physical switch, there is no other firewalls.

How can I test connection - which number port is blocked?

I have no idea why they are not seeing each other.

What else can I do?

And like I said - it was directly connected to the ESX5 but with this strange connection problem.

After a million of tries - I found a way - first I did conversion this server to esxi4 (no errors....), next from esxi4 to esx5.

Awful weird performance, but works...
