Host profiles and detaching an ESXi 5.1 host.

I have not had a chance to try this, and searching for it didn't pull up the results that I was looking for.  If I have a host profile on an ESXi 5.1 host, in vCenter of course.  If I remove that host and attach it to a completely different vCenter, will it maintain the previous host profile?  Without trying it, I would think that it should, and then I can just export the new profile to the new vCenter.  Does that sound right?  I will try it in a test environment, but I'm just curious.

The best method would be to detach the host profile from the existing one and attach a new one.

Thanks for responding so fast.  I should have been a little more specific.  I want the current profile to be maintained, this is for a potential setup in which the host will have a profile applied, removed from vCenter, and when it goes to the new vCenter it needs to already have the settings from the profile. I'm in the process of setting up another vCenter, and I was just curious since it will still be a few hours before I have everything setup the way that I want for testing.

ok. The earlier applied host profile will stay until those are dynamic. If it is compliant then it will not change until you reboot your esxi host since the configurations are loaded in memory but once you reboot your ESX host it might retain those setting since the original host profile is not available to be applied. Yes, it is good idea to export and then import to the new vc so that you do not lose configurations.

hope it is clear.
