Hi guys,
I'm unable to deploy any OVF or OVA packages on my vcenter. I get the error
Failed to deploy OVF package: A general system error occured: Error creating disk Invalid argument
Happens only with a particular cluster. The hosts are running ESXi 5.1.
Any clue why this is happening?
Does the cluster have enough datastore space?
yes obviously!

Actually it's not obvious. When OVF has problems creating disks, it usually means there's not enough room in the datastore.
No its obvious coz that would be the first thing i would check. I post in community only if its something out of usual.
Hi there
A little while ago I had a similar issue, it turned out to be firewall related. Not on the host(s) or VC Servers but on physical network layer. I ended up doing it from my VC Server as it was on the same IP subnet as the hosts and there was no network firewalls blocking communication on any level.
Cheers
I am trying to deploy vCenter Linux Appliance-vCSA and I am getting the error "Failed to deploy OVF package: A general system error occurred" any suggestions?
Have you tried deploying it on ESXi host directly instead of vCenter server ?
I am new at this and this is my first attempt of deploying vCenter.
I installed the vsphere 5.5 on a server then from my laptop brought up a browser, put the IP address of the newly installed ESXI server in the URL. Downloaded theV sphere client and installed it on the newly created ESXI server. Then from my laptop I downloaded the OVF file and when I am trying to install it I get the previous error. I am trying to install vcenter I thought by downloading the vCSA a appliance this is the a linux version of the center. I do not have a Windows server so I have no choice but to try to installed the Linux version of the center.
you can call me on skype if you want. ID thewillin
Where did you installed vSphere client ? On your laptop ?
Let me know if you are still getting the error message ??
Yes I vSphere client is on my laptop
you need to make sure you downloaded all of the files for the ovf (vmdk,md5, ovf, etc) and place them in the same directory. I always prefer, if available, to download an ova as it has all of the files needed in 1 file.
yes I did. I am still getting the same error message: "Fail to deploy OVF package: A general system error occurred"
You may call me if you would like on 240 602-6049.
Thanks
