Volunteers needed: 2012 Mac users affected by 10.8.2 update issue

We're looking for help from a few forum users that are affected by the 10.8.2 update issue. This issue causes the virtual machine to crash when using certain Windows applications that make use of 3D. This issue we're working on is only found on certain models of 2012 Mac, notably the 15" Mac Book Pro. Older Macs are not affected.

We're looking in to workarounds for the underlying issue and will shortly have a experimental software build containing those workarounds. If you've previously participated in a VMware Fusion beta program and are prepared to provide feedback on this build, please drop me a Private Message with the following information:

Your Mac model identifer: i.e. MacBookProxx,x

Your Mac kernel: i.e. Build 12Cxxx

There will be a short delay before the build is ready, if you don't hear back immediately we're still working on it.

Thanks in advance,

Simon

Further to this I have not upgraded to 5.0.3 yet. The 10.8.3 update alone was enough to resolve the issue on my rMBP.

Cheers!

I upgraded today. The graphics and text on Star Wars: KOTOR 2 are now wonderful and fixed, HOWEVER, once you finish creating your character and it goes to start the game, the program crashes. This must have something to do with the emulator, because on my other computer, I can run it on the same operating system, but on my Boot Camp partition.

I have a 15" Retina MBP, and Fusion 5.02 would crash Windows 7 when running Google Chrome with OS X 10.8.2. I just upgraded to 10.8.3, the recently released firmware update, and Fusion 5.0.3. I've tried running a few stress test sites (lots of HTML5 Canvas) with the new combination, and have had no further crashes. Plus, the overall graphics performance under Windows 7 is faster when running in Unity mode, e.g. dragging a Windows 7 window across the Mac desktop is quite a bit smoother, though still not as smooth as running in single-window or full-screen mode. My only complaint is that when in Unity mode, dragging a window with the Windows Aero theme shows the background of the Windows desktop, not that of the Mac. I also tried the same tests with Chrome in a Windows 8 guest, and all is well.

I think I remember another thread, that getting that game (if I remember right) could be done using 32-bit windows.
