How many connections can guest 2008 server accept running on win 7 host

Hi,

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

VMware Workstation 9.

  1. The host computer is running windows 7
  2. The guest virtual computer is server 2008 r2

The guest virtual server will be used primarily as a web server.

So, my question is;   Will my server 2008 iis web server be able to accept unlimited connections or is it limited to the number of connections that the windows 7 host can process through the network card ?

Can't seem to find anyone who can clarify this, so any answers would be greatly apprciated.

many thanks.

As far as I know, the limit of network connections should depend on what you set on your web server. The virtual machine should not restrict a fixed number of inbound connections. The connections might also be limited from a firewall running on the host or the quest.

If your network bandwidth and physical network adapter does not reach a bottleneck, from the number of inbound connections, then the virtual machine should not restrict any connections being made to it.

Note: Please do not consider my comments/suggestions as an official response from VMware.

Hi JonGUK

Welcome to the communities.

Agree with Rahul .

As its not using RDP services or licenses so number of connection should be unlimited.

Hi,

Thank you both for your replies.

So even though my host windows 7 can only accept 10 connections, the guest server 2008 is able to accept more connections enen though the guest is using the network connection of the host windows 7 system (bridged mode)

i find this somewhat confusing and can't see any "official" answers on this.

thanks
